Decrementing From Total Page Count
I'm trying to print off a roll of serialized labels, but the operators apply them manually off the roll, so with the rewinder, the last label printed is the first one applied and should have the number "1" on it. The number of labels changes per batch.
What I've been fighting to figure out is how to have the total number of copies to be printed (specified in the print dialog) become a variable that provides the label template the first number to start decrementing from. For example, a 100 label batch would start with label 100, and print down to 1.
I can manually add this as an input field, but getting operators to change their ways and enter more data is never enjoyable for me (or reliable), and I feel like there should be a way to do this automatically.
Thanks!

Setup your decrementing field as you require making sure to configure the reset option as you need it to perform.
Once you have done this, open the File>Print screen and click on the button to the right of the serialised numbers box. Then choose the source option that meets your requirement (probably Data Source from the sound of it unless the quantity is coming from a database field) and then click on this option that will now have appeared in the column on the left to configure which data source/database field to use.

Thanks - this is what I have been doing, but getting the page count set up as a variable has proven difficult. I would have thought the "Page Number" field would do the trick, or "Total Number of pages" or "total number of records" but none of these are translating into a starting number for my decrement when I enter the number into the print dialog.

Any further ideas on this?Peter Thane

You are linking to a Print Job Field and not a data field/ or an input on field on your Data Entry From which is what I suggested above

As I stated in my comment, I'm trying to have this value auto-populate from the print job field so the operators do not need to enter additional data in a data/input field. I do not know how to make the print job fields actually link to anything though has been the issue.
