    Hello Henrik,

Thank you for reaching us via our Community Forums.

Let's try to fix these performance issues by modifying two things to the BarTender System Service. First, we can change the Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

    1. Run Windows Services manager (launch services.msc from the Start menu).
    2. Right-click on the service you would like to configure, and select Properties.
    3. On the General tab, change the Startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

In the same dialog, we can move to the Log On tab and change so that there are credentials added, preferably one that meets the requirements described in the article below:

Once the service is set to Automatic Delayed Start and set up to run from an Administrative Windows Account, Restart the service to ensure that the changes are applied, and let us know if it improves the startup time.

    Thank you!

I know this post is 5 months old, but I just wanted to comment that I am seeing the same performance drop with Bartender 2022.  We were using Bartender 2016 and attempted to upgrade to 2022, but the performance degradation has made that impossible due to the impact on the production floor.  I've just tested 2021 and it does not have the performance issues of 2022, so we are now looking to upgrade to 2021 temporarily, but ultimately need to know if these performance issues will be addressed in a future version, as moving forward with Bartender will not be possible otherwise.

I can confirm that the changes recommended in the previous comment do not improve the performance.

Please answer the OP's question of whether this will be improved in the next release, otherwise we will need to make the assumption that it will not, and thus have to start looking at alternatives.

I also want to comment in this thread. Performance of print portal/station 2022 R4  is really bad and slow. It looks like every time you select label in print portal it starts new instance of Bartender process on a server and it takes long time.

Your software is powerful and have lots of possibilities of integrate and automate, but cause of bad optimization one of the best feature is unusable.

This tool gives you great freedom in terms of availability and scalability.
If this solution worked well, we could migrate more tasks to it.
At the moment, we can only treat it experimentally.

Please take a closer look into performance.

Yesterday I saw that you release R5 version, and I was surprised to read release notes that there is no single word about performance improvements.

Maybe you didn't receive enough feedback. Let's repair that. But we also want to get some.

Let us know what are your future plans, and development direction. Whether the web solution will be developed and supported or abandoned.

Any improvement on this performance issue???   Print Station was one of the best utilities in the Bartender Suite.   When the interface merged with Print Portal it became the worst feature in Bartender.

Hello everyone, last year we encountered similar performance issues after upgrading from BarTender 2016 to 2022. We eventually opted for the 2021 version, which ran smoothly.

A year later, today we revisited BarTender 2022, attracted by its new features and updates fixes.

However, we've noticed it struggles to connect to labels on network drives, whereas it functions well with local drives.

I've submitted a support ticket regarding this matter. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?

This sounds like permissions issues. Try adjusting the account that the BarTender Print Scheduler services uses from the default Local System account to an account that has full network permissions/admin rights.

Came across this as I was researching why print station is so clunky and inefficient.  For such a great product, BarTender, to have such a poor module associated with it is a shame.  The Print Station in v2016 worked so well - and the v2022 Print Station is an upgrade!

All the above instructions are, to me, a workaround and being a small business that does not have IT resources available to it, it is all far too complicated.

I look forward to an upgrade to Print Station that works efficiently.

    I had a similar experience.

Have Bartender 2016 installed on a hyper-V server, Print Station works well, but the Designer keeps on crashing and Reinstallation didn't work (not willing to risk uninstalling and reinstalling the SQL servers at this point), anyway opted to update to 2022 on a fresh Hyper V server running Windows Server 2016 and the Print Station for BT 2022 is excessively slow and temperamental.

Ended up reverting back to 2016.

Tried moving the labels onto the C drive of the said Hyper-V server with no luck

We are experiencing exactly the same issue with the most recent 2022 R8. What are the chances this issue will be addressed anytime soon?

Seems that bartender WAS the product for labelprinting, we are now looking at other solutions, since we can't keep running with old versions and 2022 is useless.

The same problems here and that for many months.
There have been no improvements in the past.
It is still not possible to work productively.
No helpful answers from Bartender so far.
When will something finally happen here?
    Very frustrating!

Has any solution been found for this?

I have installed 2022 bartender on a well speced PC and the time it takes to load print station is a joke.

It seems like every new version of the software is progressively slower

Any progress or hack on this? I would really like to use 2022 but the print stations is just so slow.

Unfortunately we have not been able to find any solution to this (it's not a permissions issue!) - we've worked with Bartender support and the best they've been able to do was to help optimise one of our integrations to make it more efficient.  Whilst this did make it run slightly quicker in Bartender 2022, it was still slower than the un-optimised integration in Bartender 2021, and still too slow for our production floor.  For this reason we are still running Bartender 2021, but now we use the more efficient version of the integration and get slightly better results, so the process wasn't a total loss for us.

We're currently in a difficult position because our cybersecurity requirements dictate that we are not allowed to run any software more than one major version behind the current, so as soon as the next major version of Bartender is released, we won't be able to use Bartender 2021 anymore.  Since Bartender 2022 has still not been fixed and is unsuitable for us, if the new version (when it comes) doesn't resolve this issue either, we'll have no choice but to drop Bartender entirely.
