    Hello Michael,

    Welcome to the BarTender Community!

    If you have an active Maintenance and Support agreement with us you can update your BarTender version from 2016 to 2022 or any of the versions in between. You can check if you have an active agreement under the "Help > About" menu in BarTender Designer. 

    Before updating your version of BarTender, we would recommend reviewing our documentation on Updating BarTender to 2022 and our FAQ on the matter.

    Hello,

    We have almost the same case, planning to upgrade from 2016 R9 to 2022 but we don't have Maintenance and Support anymore and we are upgrading both Bartender and OS (from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2022.

    Hey Bryann,

    Please do keep in mind that while Windows Server 2022 works on and supports BarTender 2016, it has not been fully validated in this environment. It is generally recommended to use other versions of Windows that have been fully validated. Also, we would recommend you review BarTender's supported Windows versions here.

    Hey Xabier,

    Thanks for the prompt response. I may have not been clear, we are moving from Windows Server 2012 with Bartender version 2016 to a Windows Server 2022 with Bartender version 2022. Now my inquiry is, since we don't have Maintenance and Support from our current Bartender setup (2016), do we have to purchase a new license for the new Bartender setup (Server 2022, Barternder Version 2022) we are going to have? 

    This is mostly for confirmation since my understanding is Bartender 2016 and earlier is not compatible with the newer version of Bartender.

    Happy New Year to Bryann and Xabier!
    My 2016 Std version did not have maintenance, but I was told by BT support that I could buy an upgrade license to V2022 1 printer. 

    However, the reseller could not get that go through, and I ended up buying a full license of V2022 - 2 printers, which was the cheapest I could get. 

    I hope BT can manage to sell licenses online by yourself, so users have direct intake from the source of knowledgeable people.
