Printer settings affecting several templates
Hello
We have an issue were printer settings are affecting several templates despite the option 'Use settings for this document only'. What are we doing wrong or have we misunderstood how this works?
Parts of the screenshots are in swedish, but i'll translate
Template 1
Printmethod and Performance are both set to 'Use settings for this document only'
Horizontal offset is set to -6.0 mm that I change to -5.0 mm and save.
The problem occurs when I then open template 2 that also has its offset at -6.0 mm but for some reason the offset is changed in this template as well.
Template 2
The settings for print method and performance is 'Use settings for this document only' like in template 1 and both templates are set to have the printer cache emptied at each session

From the Help menu:
-
Use settings for this document only: Specifies that the settings that are specified on this tab apply only to the currently open document.
So it looks like you are misunderstanding the feature and setting the offset will make it global for all labels using that printer

Ok, thank you
I should have looked in the help menu before asking here... ;-)

Every time I have come across this type of requirement it has been for medical labels where the amount of text needed to go on them is quite large for the printable area on the label. Obviously larger labels would help this but then they would be too big for the packaging and one thing we have looked into for one particular customer is a redesign of how the labels are manufactured so that the roll is wider with a larger gutter (left margin or backing paper) meaning the label itself is further over to the right away from the bulkhead of the printer. Fortunately none of the labels used are full width and so the maximum print width doesn't come into the situation.
I guess there is nothing you can do with the label design settings of the label layout itself to get round this?
