I believe unless you are using BarTender Enterprise the System Database needs to be a local install. You would need to use the Administration Console settings to adjust the config of this and link to a remote System Database

Hi Peter Thane and thanks for your reply,

We use Enterprise but we keep everything local to ensure continued production in case of a WAN failure.
My question was, why the default location of the database files in SQL Server is not respected when creating the Datastore database. The file path is probably hard-coded in the database-create script. And the scripts they provide to create your own database in "C:\Program Files\Seagull\BarTender 2022\Database" don't seem to match the implicit database setup either.

Nevermind, i'll run the standard installation and then move the database files manually to the D drive, so our system admins are happy.

    Hi Peter/Harald,

Please guide us on the manual copy of the database files to another Drive (Other than OS Drive).

    Hi Hari Daddham

this is a standard action for a database administrator and you can find many articles about it on the internet.

For instance this one https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/6689/sql-server-move-database-files/ which I used to create my script.

    Best wishes,

It would probably be best if you just googled how to move an SQL database to a new location to be honest.

Once you have done that you would then need to open Administration Console and the System Database option and reconfigure where it is now saved, although as mentioned above only the Enterprise edition can interact with a remote System Database this needs to be local for all other editions
