    Hi Gpatel,

Sorry for late reply - Please tell me some more detail about it.
In what action you usually have that dialog, and the version and the build no. of your BarTender, and OS version you use.
When you have this dialog, click "Switch". when you got this again, wait a while, then click "Switch" again.
(I know - this is not smart approach.)

This indicates application's internal call takes too long, so happens less in faster PC. (often happens on other software created by C++ too).
The latest version (9.4SR3 in time) of BarTender have less chance to show this dialog as workaround has been applied on some place, however we'd say it could still happens in some place. Please help us to pinpoint where could it be happen.

    Hi,

Sorry for late reply but I had uninstalled the demo since I was not getting any reply for this issue and was not able to use the software.

It happens when we start bartender software. The build I had installed Bartender 9.4 SR3 2781. I had even tried uninstall and reinstall but the problem was there.

MY PC Configuration is Win XP SP3 (Latest upto date), AMDAthlon X2 32 Bit with 4 GB Ram.

I had tried pressing swith at different intervals but no use. Same dialogue was repeated.

Any Help and I would like to check it thoroughly and probably purchase as I really like this product.

    Thanks in Advance.

Hi gpatel, Thanks for the detail.

How do you start BarTender software? please tell me in what case you receive the error. Such as...
    - When you double click label format(.btw) on desktop / Explorer
    - When you select BarTender 9.4 from Windows start menu
    - When you run BarTender from other application from ActiveX / .net SDK / Commander etc
    - When you open format from Print station / Batch maker application

And how often does that happen?

This happens when I Double click the Bartender application shortcut from desktop/start menu and directly from the program folder.
I didn't run the other applications.

It happens quiet frequently and only solution is restart the machine and then some times it works and somtimes again restart. I had even checked complete log of system activities, my antivirus activities but it was clean without any trace of error.

    Hi Gautam,
Thanks for additional detail - I personally haven't experienced such pattern, so I cannot figure out what causes the error.
Try register BarTender from command line:
    C:\Program Files\Seagull\BarTender Suite\bartend.exe /register

If you run any software to interfere program execution (Such as virus checker or runtime debugger etc),
stop the software and see what's happen.
(I'm sure you've done this already)

For stopping antivirus you may need to unplug PC from network while testing.

    Hi,

I just posted about the same error in "Feature Request - BarTender". I got it when I start the "Advanced Printer and Driver Setup" dialog (Administer menu) so maybe if you install a lot of printers and stress one of your slower PC:s maybe you can get this "Server Busy" dialog.

    Best regards,

    Björn

I have the exact same problem

    Using win Vista SP2
    Bartender v 9.4 SR3

Have the same server busy and retry button.
Bartender takes 30 to 60 sec to start up, continously with this error message.

Have tried the same installation on win7 in same enviroment and there it works.

Was in contact with support and they say it can happen on Vista????.....but no solution!!

Did not have this problem with v9.01

Have tried all different types of settings in the program but no change.

Also tried to register bartender from command line with bartender.exe /register. That worked once!.....then it was back again.

    Ideas?

I'm sorry that you experience that issue and we couldn't give perfect answer to that.
Did temporary disable security software / antivirus not work?
If your PC is not connected to Internet (or access is restricted by proxy / firewall etc),
Try disable “Check for publisher’s certificate revocation”for current login user.

    braunblog.com/2010/04/02/is-your-powershell-slow-to-start/

If your PC is connected to Internet - I don't really recommend disable that setting, try applying the latest windows update first.

Have also tried with disabling the antivirus software but no diffrence. Will look into your other solution.

Disabling “Check for publisher’s certificate revocation” did not help

I don't have a very good suggestion - in wild guess, I would Uninstall BarTender and install again, update .net framework (For Vista, .net Framework 3.5SP1). Takes 30 to 60 sec is way too long, i thought conflicting with any other software however don't have a particular name to cause that.

Have now tried reinstall .net 3.5. No change, error is still there

Have also tried a demo installation with Bartender 10 SR1. Same error message

Works fine with win7 but it seems that it really does not like Win Vista

We are having the same problem.

In our environment, we run BarTender on multiple machines. As a front-end, BarTender has been integrated with our WMS application software (Exacta, from Bastian Automation), so calls to BarTender are all hidden in the background. The issue does not seem to discriminate between Windows XP or Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit. We have seen the issue affect multiple machines. Some machines never see the error, while an identically configured machine may see it consistently.

    Further information...
In our environment, our warehouse workstations are not in the same network subnet as the Seagull license server. They are in the same building, there are no firewalls in between, but on a separate VLAN.

BarTender v10.0 SR4 should solve most, if not all, of these "Server Busy" messages.  This will be released sometime soon, don't ask me when exactly, but in the meantime you can try the beta if you wish: ftp://ftp.seagullscientific.com/BarTender/Beta/BT100_SR4_2868_Suite.exe

    Hi again

Will there be any more service release  of v9.4 solving this issue?

We only make service releases for the current version, which is v10.0 at the time of writing.  Therefore the answer to your question is no, there will not be an additional service release on v9.40 to correct this issue.
