Print Station Reeeeaaaallllly Slow (100%cpu Usage)
Hello all,
I'm experiencing problems using Print Station on one of the machines. We currently have around 30 machines running BT/Print Station and all are working well with the exception of one.
It takes forever from selecting the label to where you can select the number of labels etc (the part where it says 'reading data') then when all the infomation is filled out it takes an age to go back to the Print Station screen. By an age i mean around 5 minutes of 'reading data' then around 2-3 mins where it says 'printing documen't (even though it had been printed 2-3 mins ago)
When i bring up task manager, the BarTender process is running at 100%, dropping to late 80's then back up
It has been working ok on that machine for a week or so but now has decided to play up, even though nothing new has been installed.
It's a fresh build of XP machine with 1gb RAM and all updates applied. The only other software installed is Office
We are using BarTender 10.1 Automation
Hope someone can help
Ryan

What build number of BarTender is in use? You can see this under the "Help > About" dialog.
What service pack of XP is in use?
Are all the other machines also running Windows XP with the same set of applications installed?
What versions and service packs of .NET Framework are installed on this machine? .Net Framework 3.0 (SP2) is required.
Are the BarTender documents to be printed on a shared network drive, from where all other Print Station computers read and print from?

Hello,
We are using 10.1 SR1, all machines are XP SP3 and .net framework is fully up to date.
The documents are on a shared network drive which all other print stations have no issues with.
We have narrowed down the issue to be in the printer somewhere. Without the printer installed, Print Station works fine, as soon as we added the printer (which is installed on our print server) the issue comes back
For now we have added the printer directly by IP address which has sped up the process a little

Hello Ryan,Thank you very much for your feedback.Have you tried to open the label directly from BarTender? Please note that a BarTender file store the printer settings on his label, if your printer driver is corrupted BarTender can experience high CPU usage. If you are having the same problem opening the same label directly from BarTender I would suggest to reinstall the printer driver in your print server and in the Print Station PC.Thanks,Carlos0
