Record Selection Within Print Station
I have a database with about 50 part numbers and a linked serial number to each individual part number.
I want to select a part number (record) and print, say 10, labels thus incrementing the serial number by 1 on each print - I have no problems doing this with the label open for editing.
However, when I come to use Print Station (which I want to do to stop users changing labels) I can only select the number of labels to print - it will not allow me to select which part numbers I want to print and assumes the first part number on the list.
I also want to stop it offerring me to print multiple serial numbers - I only want each serial number printed once
As I say it works in edit mode but not Print Station.
I am new to BarTender and am using version 10.1. Am I doing something wrong????

Selecting records from a database at print time
For your serial number issue ... you first need to set the serial number document object to be serialized and I'm guessing set it to increment. Once you do this there is another option at print time for QTY (Copies and Serialized) Using the copies option will give you the same serial number X times. If you use the serialized option you get Y labels with a different serial number on each. You can use both if you want/need to produce one serialized label X number of times.

Neither of these videos linked talks about Print Station and reading what jpurchase wrote it sounds like he already knows how to do this Record Selection in the main BarTender (editor) application which the one video describes.
I'm trying to do the same thing as jpurchase... From PRINT STATION, I want to be able to print a packing label from our Sales Orders, after the Sales Order Number prompt I want my employees to be able to see the lines on the order in a list and the pick the line with the correct part number they are shipping instead of typing the line number in and making a mistake cause typed it in wrong... just like you can do with the mail BarTender application with the Select Records button in the print screen.
EDIT: I was able to figure out how to do this above from this thread in the link below:
http://forums.seagullscientific.com/index.php?/topic/2569-record-selection-copies-in-print-station/
In this case, in BarTender with the document loaded open the Print dialog, make sure it's set to "Selected at print time" for record selection, and then click the properties button for the identical copies option. Choose the "Specify quantity in print dialog" radio button, and tick the "Allow record selection dialog to override copies" check box. Save the document when done.
Also like jpurchase, in Print Station I'd like to be able to remove the "Copies per Serial Number" option from the screen. This just confuses my shipping employees, especially when they have to go between printing labels with and without serial numbers. I understand this option offers more flexibility in printing serial numbers but I would appreciate the flexibility to remove this option when I don't need it... this would save labels and employee time when my shipping employees accidently put the print quantity in the wrong field.

Yes, I agree that the response at February 18, 2015 09:14 was utterly pointless. The person who answered it clearly doesn't understand your products. Can you do any better? There is still no evidence that this feature request has ever been brought to the attention of product management. Do I need to call there and talk to someone on the phone to get this across?

How have you configured the record selection in your label?
The above comments are all for an old version of BarTender which has been superseded a number of times over. I cant remember coming across a similar issue around this time or since so this is probably not relevant to your situation

Well this is strange, I have two version of bartender 2022 installed. One in my personal laptop and one in my office laptop (have installed one in my personal as the office one was not allowing me to connect via RestAPI using postman, some security stuff)
Now, on my personal laptop the print station is quite different, first I had to add the label into the Librarian, only then it showed on my print station, then when printing I was not able to select the record of the DB which is why I posted above.
On my office laptop is quite different, my labels are shown without any additional action into librarian, also when printing I do have the options of selecting the records.
Below is the version installed on my office laptop where I'm able to print by records, I will check after what is the one on my personal.
I will open a new thread on how to update DB records using RestAPI to be able to used them when printing. thanks !
