Pdf417 - Unknown 'a' In Scanned Results
Does anyone know what would cause a character of 'A' to appear as the 1st character of the scanned data string of a PDF417 bar code? The bar code was created using Bartender V9.2
The 'A' appears to be disabling the effects of the control characters RS, GS, EOT.

Best Regards.

Tony,
Could you also attach the BT document (btw) and a scanned copy of the printed bar code?

Hello I am having a similar problem in Bartender 9.10.
Instead of group separators I am getting 'A' in front of each data string. It looks like the original poster never responded but hopefully someone can help me so I've attached my bartender file.
Sorry if this is an obvious problem but I barely know what I'm doing in the first place. Thanks for reading.

Do you get the same issue with a new BarTender document with just a PDF-417 bar code on it and without reading the variable data from a database (so, using Embedded data only)? If yes, please attach this new BarTender document (.btw) the scan of the printed label and a print file (.prn). In order to obtain the print file, access the "File > Print" dialog in BarTender, enable the "Print to File" checkbox and click "Print".

So I scanned the barcode from the attached scan and all the codes except for the group separators are working appropriately. Instead of using the <> as prefixes, try using them as separate substrings and see if that makes a difference in processing. 0 -

I get 0s instead of As this time. The forum says that I am not permitted to upload the .prn file.
Mike T: I've tried that and it just gives me another A.

What kind of printer are you using, and what driver? The printed output you're posting doesn't seem to matter what's on the label, or on a printout using one of our label printers. 0 -

Change the print method for the bar code to be: "Barcodes and human readable text controlled by BarTender" and let us know how it goes.
You will find this option by double clicking on the bar code object, select the "Symbology and Size" node on the left and then click the "Print Method" button.

That seems to have fixed it. Thank you!
