We've a driver for this printer:

    http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/drivers/datamax-o'neil-windows-printer-drivers.aspx

First of all, you need to make sure that the PnP device is being detected by Windows. When Windows detects a PnP printer, it should create an entry in the Windows registry at the below folder:

    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBPRINT"

Is that the case with the Datamax printer?

    Good day

Thanks for the response of the predicament. The problem is it detects it but it will not recognize it. Even if I use the media which came with the printer (i.e. Accessory CD version 9.6). The windows message I get is "Unknown device has a driver problem". I also tried to change the USB cables and ports but the resultant is the same.

I am installing the datamax printer on Windows 7.

Our printer drivers come with an utility called DriverWizard.exe which you will normally find under the "c:\Seagull" folder once unzipping the driver files. Please launch this utility before connecting / turning on the printer, choose to install a Printer driver and now choose "USB" as the port. Have Windows detect the printer and as soon as it tries to find a matching printer driver for it, cancel the process and now check if "DriverWizard.exe" has found the USB connected printer. If yes, then continue with the installation of the Seagull driver for this printer.

    Hi Domingo

You have been very helful. I have managed to install 8 printers through that process but there are two which are not picked by the DriverWizard.exe.

Secondly, there is one printer which reamains with a red light. It doesnt show the green light. When you press the play/or go orange button it will show green then return to red afterwards. What are possible problems. Someone was saying it is a calibrating issue. If so how do you calibrate it.

    Thank you

Which two printer make and models are not picked by DriverWizard.exe? Are these PnP printers at least detected by Windows?

With which printer make and model are you having the "red light" problems? Can you print to this printer from BarTender at all? This might be a just a media problem. Make sure that the label media and ribbon is properly placed in the printer (you normally have a graphic scheme on how to setup this inside the printer). Depending on the printer make and model, calibrating the sensors is sometimes also possible via the printer driver properties, by selecting the "Tools" tab and now the "Actions" drop down list.

Do you also have this problem on a clean new Windows installation where no Seagull drivers have been installed before and where the Datamax printer has never been connected to?
