Printing Pictures From An Excel Spreadsheet Or Access Database
I have a data file with roughly 20,000 items - I will be printing labels for each item - there will be three to files pictures for each item, some are 32 pixels by 32 pixels, some are 100 by 72 - obviously the 32x32 is always in the same location as is the bigger one(s)
I have set the data up in an excel spreadsheet and also in an access database.
I have the label designed and the text portion prints fine but the pictures don't print
Can you tell me the best way to link pictures to bartender?
I can get one picture to print on all labels, but i need the pictures for each item to print with the correct item
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am 5 days into my 30 day trial
thanks again,
g

It sounds like you should data source the picture objects specifying the default path (folder) where the image files are stored. The Excel file will have the image file name in one of the field columns that specifies the image to print for any given record. In the picture object properties therefore you'd set the data source of the image name to come from the appropriate database field that will contain the name of the image file to print.

Thanks, Ian, that works great

If a cell in my spreadsheet is empty, bartender displays <EMPTY> on the label. Is there a way to make that area blank? thanks

The object is marked as <EMPTY> on the label design area simply so that you can see it, and therefore modify it if needed. When printing, such objects with an empty data source will not print.

I would like to disable or make invisible a picture object based on the value of a data field on the label. Is there a way in inhibit printing of a Embedded Picture Object based on the value of a Shared Data field?

CRSERWIN,
You should be able to do this in the Properties dialog for the object. The top "node" (which has the name of the object) has an option called "Print When"...there, you can set it to print conditionally based on the value of the data source.

I don't see what you are referring to in the properties of this picture object. I see Picture,Image Processing,Position and General tabs. None of these has any reference to Print When. I am on version 9.4 SR3

CRSERWIN,
Look at the uppermost option that has the name of the object, for example: "Picture 1."
Edit: I should add that I don't know which version added this feature so I can't say whether or not it is available in v9.4.

Conditional print on general label objects was a v10.1 feature or higher.
