Google blocked database connection with BarTender
I had a connection configured with Google Sheets to use it as the database. Now I can't access my Google account through BarTender because it shows that BarTender does not meet Google's security requirements for third-party applications. The message is as follows:
"This app is blocked. This app tried to access sensitive information from your Google account. To protect your account, Google has blocked this access."

Confirmed, Google Sheets is now available and working again in BarTender Cloud, and BarTender Software v11.4.1 onwards.

I have exactly the same problem, any solution?

From a quick internet search this looks to be an issue you need to resolve with your Google Sheets config where you have to approve BarTender's access so you probably need to get your IT team involved in resolving this for you

It is an error when pressing login, but Google removed the possibility of allowing access to unsafe applications so the bartender developers would have to solve this problem since there is no solution from the users.

Same issue as described above.
The answer from a support technician was: "Unfortunately this is a currently known issue that has been reported. I will add you to the list of users experiencing it. As this is currently being investigated, the current solution is to use a different database such as Excel Online."
I've been searching in my Google account to allow access to less secure third-party applications but haven't had any success.1 -
Is there any update on this issue? I cannot link the database using Google Sheets.

Still unsolved by the bartender developers... I think they are not interested in solving this problem.

As Chrisfloreshn mentioned, the issue remains unresolved by the bartender developers. While I am unsure how many people use Google Sheets as a database, I believe the number may be relatively small, which may explain the lack of urgency in addressing the problem.

If I know the bartender cannot account for Google sheet. I will not buy it. Poor us.

I didn't have this issue until I went from the free version to the enterprise. May be switching back.

Just for your info, the Free version licences no longer work as these have ended

I have the same problem. When I was trying to connect a Google Table The app had been blocked blocked by Google with no option to unblock. Any progress ????

This is a known issue to Seagull Software, that's due to a change in Google's security policy on third-party apps connecting to their services, that required us to work with Google by providing them with security and application specific information about BarTender - which has been done since a few months now. However, it is currently in the hands of Google to work on that and either approve BarTender as an allowed app or to reject it. To date, we remain in the no-mans-land waiting on a response from Google. We hope that it won't be too long now for the approval to come through and for this data connector to work again.

Would the approval from google also grant bartender access to google drive as well? I can see that other storage drives such as S3 and Dropbox are available as options. Hoping that google drive will also soon be an option?

Shaun: The BarTender data connector is for Google Sheets. It won't work at the Google Drive level, though a work-around could be to use the Google Drive synchronization app and have the BarTender Software (not Cloud) connect to the locally synched file.
In parallel, I have requested escalation of the Google Sheets issue with upper management, in the hope that someone with some clout can get some movement from Google. Sorry that we're not able to be much more helpful than that for now.

Shaun: It looks like we might have light at the end of the tunnel! Yet to be confirmed 100%, but in coming updates for BarTender Software and BarTender Cloud we should be resolving this issue. Look at the release notes for each product platform, in a release as yet to come at time of writing, for confirmation that this is so.

Internally confirmed with engineering. By early April this will be fixed in both the BarTender Software and BarTender Cloud. Some minor code changes were required for the Google compliance (now approved by Google), so the new Software and Cloud releases will be needed for this to work.
