Seagull driver does not see Bradyprinter 360
We have an older Bradyprinter 360 and are trying to make a connection to it. Using the Seagull "driver install wizard" we select "USB device" but the "Next" button never activates - it doesn't "see" the Brady printer. I've tried connecting the printer to the laptop (running Windows 10) using a printer cable as well as a parallel-to-USB cable - in both cases we get a "bing-bong" (a new USB device was seen) - yet the Seagull driver doesn't seem to recognize that its there - any advice appreciated - thanks in advance.
Welcome to the BarTender Community Forums!By what you are describing, it sounds like the driver wizard utility has simply failed to detect the printer attached to the computer via USB cable and spins forever.
In this case, to remedy the issue, we usually recommend using the option Other (such as Parallel or Serial) to advance through the driver installation wizard.
Once installed, you'll simply have to access its properties and set the desired port from there. Once set, from the driver properties, you can also run a print test to see if everything works as it should.
Hopefully, this makes the trick!0
Thanks for the reply. It is very strange in that when plugged in the 360 is seen in device manager yet the driver does not detect it. I also tried connecting it to a workstation (rather than a laptop) - there I got messages that "Brady 360 was ready" and it even showed up in the printers list - but in the "unspecified" section. Still the driver doesn't see it.
I purchased a parallel-to-USB cable - when using that the driver doesn't see it as a USB - in this case use "other"?0
I encountered the same thing at a customer's site the other week, but with a different make/model of printer, although it installed correctly on a different computer. It too was Unspecified in the drivers on the ordiginal machine and to get it to work I had to add as an Other (as above) but I told the PC it was connected to the Parallel/LPT1 port andafter it had installed I adjusted the Properties and Ports and connected it to the USB port. As there was more than one USB port available then I tested connectivity via the Tools tab and the Actions drop down and Form Feed command. If nothing happens make sure you open the printer screen via the icon in the bottom right of the Task Bar and delete the form feed "document". After that go back into the driver and link it to a different USB port and retry the connection.
From experience it is unlikely the printer will be autodetected is using a USB/Parallel adapter connector and you will need to install it as above.0
I was able to get it connected by selecting "parallel port" then later changing the port properties to USB. I have 3 apps I'm working with - Brady Workstation (eval copy), Labelmark 6, and Teklynx Codesoft (eval copy) - I was provided an LAB file from an old job and Codesoft was able to open it and print the label - evaluating my options going forward - thanks for the help...0
