Bartender faults intermittently

    Hi Peter,

    Welcome to the BarTender Community Forums!

    Before anything, I would like to mention we have modified the image you sent us to comply with our Community Forums Usage Policy. Please be aware this is an open forum accessible to all; sharing Product Key Codes or Support Numbers goes against our user safety policies.

    Now, to get started, could you clarify how BarTender is crashing?

    • Does it occur when you launch BarTender Designer from scratch, or when you select a label file to try to open it?
    • If Designer is open, and you select File > Print; does it slow down and crash at the print stage?


    Crashing can be caused by a few sources. Mainly from faulty installations and corrupted printer drivers (BarTender loads all printer drivers during startup for the document rendering engine).

    • Try running a repair and update to the latest version of BarTender 2021 R8
    • Try reinstalling and updating any drivers you are using with BarTender. Use the same settings you had before, just re-install the drivers to ensure there is no potential corruption.

    You could also have a bad system database connection on that machine, causing instability. Is the BarTender System Database connected when you open the Administration Console and look under the System Database tab?

    Let me know what you find, and we can continue from there! :)

    It occurs when both double clicking a .btw file and opening from scratch, the window opens with some artefacts which will then transition to a clean window; if it succeeds then busy indicator disappears and use normally, if it doesn't then busy indicator for an additional ~ 5 seconds then window disappears. Haven't experienced it crashing after it successfully opens. As mentioned previously it works ~ 1 time out of 4, can't see any pattern.

    Upgraded to latest version on website 2022 R1. No change to above fault behaviour
     
    >> Try reinstalling and updating any drivers you are using with BarTender.
    Upgraded to TSC TX600 driver build date 03/09/22. Looks like its fixed the problem, no faults so far.

    Awesome, glad to know the issue seems to be resolved! So it turns out this was a driver issue; perhaps the driver installation was corrupted.
