$BarTender_Security$ local user account

Hi,

I noticed after installing Bartender 2016 R3 that there is a local user account created called $BarTender_Security$. Is this account needed for the application to operate or can it be deleted? If it is needed, does it need to have admin rights?

  We would advise against deleting this user account as it is needed for internal BarTender operations. That being said, is there a particular reason why you installed BarTedner 2016 R3? This version of BarTender is currently on service release 9 (R9). If you have the time, we would recommend updating to BarTender 2016 R9, as this updated release offers a wide range of quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and security patches.

  Hi Xabier,

  It's more a time and resources thing why we are still using 2016 R3. If we upgrade to 2016 R9 would that still need the local user account?

  Hi Xabier,

  Just wondering if you could explain any further on what internal BarTender operations the local admin account is specifically needed for? We are trying to eliminate local admin accounts where possible in our environment.
