Silent installer won't activate
Hi there,
When performing a silent installer of Bartender 2021 R4 using powershell script, the activation will not process to the end, meaning that users still have to activate the software themselves.
Scriptline in Powershell:
Start-Process -FilePath "C:\Bartender\BT2021_R4_164784_Full_x64.exe" -ArgumentList "FEATURE=BarTender INSTALLSQL=false BLS=[servername]:[port] PKC=XX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX /L*v C:\Bartender\install.log"
As you can see I'm already using the Log option, but nothing readable to me (!) shows why the activation is not processed.
The registry at \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Seagull Scientific\BarTender\Licensing remains empty.
Only when the user starts the "ActivationWizard.exe" and clicks "Next" and "Finish" the registry is filled with the right data.
Any help would be really appreciated. I do already have an installer logfile.
Regards, Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Thank you for reaching us via the Community Forums!
Instead of using Powershell, would it be possible to try running Command Prompt as an Administrator and using the following command?C:\WINDOWS\system32>C:\Bartender\BT2021_R4_164784_Full_x64.exe FEATURE=Bartender INSTALLSQL=false PKC=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX BLS=XXX.XXX.XX.X:5160
This should do a basic install of BarTender and include the activation step in this silent install.
We'd like to see if that works or if something else is going wrong.
Please, let us know how it went!
Thank you.0 -
Hi Xabier,
It works, on the machine itself. We figured out it's network related.
We're using Citrix MCS to deploy servers, the installation itself is done correctly. The only thing is that the installation server (for creating the MCS image) can't reach the license server for correct activation. So when the final servers are booting from their MCS image the activation still needs to be done, because it failed on the MCS deploy machine and therefor the activation is not included in the MCS image.
Is there a silent command for just activating the software (hence after a force reboot of the MCS'ed machine)? So we do not need to bother the end-users with the activation process?
Thanks for the help!
Regards,
Dennis0
