I need help with basic understanding of how this application is meant to function
Hello,
We recently purchased Professional 2022 and I have been struggling to understand how I set up these application across my network. I have installed the licensing server on a sever, that part was easy. Now I want to be able to print from, say, three different computer. What is the correct way to do this?
I have installed the Bartender suite on my own computer and I can successfully access the server. So now my computer has its own copies of every application and its own administration console. Why? Shouldn't there be a single admin console that administers all installed instances on the server?
I am just so confused about this and I am unable to move forward with our printing needs. Perhaps I need to be user the automation edition to get what I want, but even still, I can't find any documentation that will help me understand this better. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The Admin Console on each machine links back to the central Admin Console that holds the licence and although they are not able to adjust many things remotely this does mean that you can do things like block printers from being used at a local level or change to a different licence or setup a System Database locally (or link to a central remote one with Enterprise) .
If you are not printing from the server, at install time you can use the Advanced Installation options and just install the licence but on the printing machines the full BarTender package is installed, even though you may not be using some of the companion applications.
For a Pro install I would normally install the licence on a central server and activate the licence on there (making sure the visible to all is ticked) and then install the software on the other PCs and as part of the installation connect back to the central licence. With BarTender 2022 you do have a 2nd option, namely do a full install on the server and configure it to run a web portal (Print Portal application) and then at print time the users can access the "website" that Print Portal runs and print from there without the need to install the software locally. However PCs that are to be used to design labels would still need BarTender to be installed on it

So I have the license installed on a central service and it is visible. When I install the software on my PC, I connected to the license server without issue. If I open the Admin Console on my computer, I see the current license and the current license server so that is correct. But how do the user permissions work? If on the server I set the permissions to, say, block saving a bartender document, I would expect that on my computer I would not be able to save a bartender document. But that is not how it seems to be working.

You will need to enable the security on each PC that needs it. For more information, checkout
