Symptom

A field in a text or barcode object linked to a field in a Data Entry Form does not update with the user's last input after printing completes.

Environment

BarTender 2016 and later.

Solution

There is a setting for the user input control that, when set, will update the connected data source with the value the user last entered.

Follow these steps to configure this setting:

1. Right-click on your input field in your Data Entry Form.
2. Select Properties.
3. Go to the Data Entry section on the left-hand side.
4. Change the Default to Use Sample Data and check the Update sample data after print (affects all users) checkbox.
