Getting Started with Database Connections (Video - 5:20)
Overview
Connect a document to a database in BarTender to specify the data that you want to use to populate objects on your template. At print time, there will be a printed item for each individual record in your database that met your specified criteria.
In this video, you will learn how to connect a database to a BarTender document, create a named database connection for use in multiple documents, link database fields to objects on the template, and select specific database records to print at print time.
Applicable to
BarTender 2016 and later
Information
Consider the following situations:
-
You have multiple items that you need to output, but some of the data changes on each item that prints.
-
All of the data you need to print on your items is contained inside of a database or spreadsheet.
-
The data you need to print is automatically created by an external application.
In all of these cases, the most efficient way to print the data is to connect the BarTender document to an existing database on your computer and import the information from the database into your template at print-time.
