Sharing data between documents: Global data fields
Overview
Global data fields are embedded named data sources stored in the BarTender System Database. By storing named data sources in a centralized location, they are easily shared across all users, computers, and BarTender documents that are connected to the same BarTender System Database.
For example:
- Share a serialized field between BarTender documents, ensuring that no two documents ever print with the same serial number.
- Share prompted information across documents in batch prints jobs using our Batch Maker utility.
- Push a new expiration date or part number to all applicable BarTender documents from a centralized location.
In order to use Global Data Fields, you must first set up a BarTender System database.
