Installing a Seagull Driver for a TCP/ IP Printer

Before you can begin printing from your BarTender software you must install a driver for your printer. Once the printer driver has been installed and properly configured, you will be able to select the printer from the BarTender Print dialog and use it to print your items.

Download driver

To install a driver for your TCP/IP printer, first download the printer driver from our website. Drivers are sorted by manufacturer.

Note: If Seagull Scientific does not produce a driver for your printer model you can still use it with your BarTender software. Just utilize the driver issued by your printer manufacturer.

Extract driver files

Once you have downloaded the driver from the Seagull Scientific web site, Run the .exe file to extract the driver files to your local hard drive.

To run the driver.exe file:

  1. Double-click the .exe file and select Run.
  2. Accept the License Agreement and click Next.

You will be prompted for an Installation Directory. The default installation directory is C:\Seagull

  1. Leave this directory selected and click Next to open the Installation Information window.

  1. Ensure that Run Driver Wizard after unpacking drivers is selected (checked). The Read Installation Instructions section is optional.
  2. Click Finish. The Seagull Driver Wizard opens.

Installing the printer drivers

The Seagull Driver Wizard is a tool that will install, upgrade, and remove printer drivers.  The wizard opens automatically after the driver files are extracted.

Note: If the wizard doesn't launch automatically, or you need to run it again, you can launch it manually by navigating to the directory you chose above ("C:\Seagull" by default).  Find driverwizard.exe and double-click it.

To install the printer drivers:

  1. When the wizard opens, select Install printer drivers.

  1. Click Next to open the Connect Printer window.

  1. Select how the printer will be connected. In this example we are installing a TCP/IP printer. Select Network (Ethernet or WiFi) and click Next.
  2. Depending on the installer you downloaded you will see different printer models listed.  Select the model of your printer and click Next.
  3. Select the IP address or port your printer is utilizing and click Next.

Note: If you do not see your printer's port listed, you need to create it:

  1. Click Create Port...
  2. Select Standard TCP/IP Port and click New Port... to launch the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Type in the Printer Name or IP Address of your printer.
  5. Click Next.
  6. The wizard will search the network for port information. Most thermal printers do not have identifiable device information. Wait for the wizard to reach the Addtional port information required screen.
  7. When the wizard finishes scanning, select Generic Network Port when prompted.
  8. Click Next.
  9. If the port options are correct, click Finish
  10. Select the new port from the Ports list.
  11. Click Next to open the Specify Printer Name screen of the Wizard.

  1. Enter a name for the printer, or leave the default name in place. Optionally, select Use this printer as the default printer
  2. Specify whether you want to share the printer with other users.

  1. Click Next.
  2. Review the settings. You can click the Back button to make any corrections. When you are satisfied with your settings, click Finish.

The Printer Driver will run through the installation. After the installation has completed, you are  ready to print to your TCP/IP printer.
