Symptoms

There are a few possible symptoms:

• BarTender freezes when trying to open a dialog. This commonly occurs when trying to open the Database Connection dialog, a label object's Properties, or Data Entry Forms.
• BarTender itself might not seem to be starting.

Environment

Windows Operating Systems.

Usually, when you are working or have worked with more than one monitor.

Solutions

Alt-Space

1. Press Alt+Space.
2. Press the m key on the keyboard.
3. Now use the arrow keys on the keyboard once or twice.
4. Drag your mouse right or left until you see the missing window.

This should result in you seeing a vague dotted outline of your dialog box. Once you're able to see that hit Enter to reposition it.

Shift+F10

1. Use Shift + F10 on the item in the taskbar, then select Move.
2. Drag your mouse right or left until you see the missing window.

Manual Uninstallation

If the previous solutions do not help, it's possible that the setting controlling the position of the missing window is stuck, left over from a previous uninstallation of BarTender. The safest way to fix this is to uninstall BarTender and then reinstall it.

In addition, we need to remove these leftover files.

1. Uninstall BarTender through Add/Remove Programs in the Windows System Settings.
2. Manually remove the following folders:
   • C:\Program Files\Seagull (for BarTender 64Bit)
   • C:\Program Files (x86)\Seagull (for BarTender 32Bit) or wherever you’ve installed BarTender if you have installed the software on a different folder
   • C:\ProgramData\Seagull
   • C:\ProgramData\Seagull Security
3. Remove the following Windows registry keys:
   • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagull Scientific
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Seagull Scientific
   • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Seagull Scientific
   • HKCU\Software\WOW6432Node\Seagull Scientific (for 32 bit installations)
   • HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Seagull Scientific (for 32 bit installations)
4. Reboot your system.
5. Reinstall BarTender.
