Trying to print from BarTender or even trying to print a test page from the printer driver results in being asked to Print to File.
BarTender 2016 and later.
There are two possible solutions. The first is to see if Print to File is checked.
- Print to File is checked in the Print Dialog menu in BarTender
- Check to see if Print to File is checked here. Uncheck it if it is, click Close, and Save the BarTender document. Then try printing again.
Second, it's possible that the port the printer driver is using is set to FILE, or is otherwise not set up to print to an external location (USB, TCP/IP, etc.)
- In Control Panel > Printer Properties > Port, the port that the printer is using is set to FILE or some other option that is not actually connected to the printer itself. This would also be why printing a Test Page from the General tab also yields this result.
- Check the box next to the correct port to resolve the issue.
