This articles applies to BarTender 2019 only. If you are looking to find your License Server in version 2016 and earlier, please see Locating Seagull License Server on your network.

Question

How do I find which computer or server is hosting my license?

Answer

  1. Open the Administration Console
  2. Select Licensing from the left-hand menu
  3. When the list populates, you should see a support number listed under the section of "current license". The license host's name will be listed underneath the Server column:

This is not always so simple. For example, I upgraded to BT2019 R6 and tried to change the license server port to 50050. The result was that there is no license server visible on the page.

Goin directly to services, I can only start/stop the server but not change the port

I need the IP address and Port of the server...

I'm on the computer which has the license/server, but it doesn't tell me the IP address or Port so I can add it to another computer.

I can find the IP address through the command line (but shouldn't have to, because it should just be listed in the administration console), but don't know how to find the port for the license server.

Hello Jake,

You should be able to find the license listed given that it is broadcasting on your network. But if for whatever reason it doesn't show up, you can find your IP address via command line (since that is something on Windows' side). The default port is 5160.
