Error 1315: Unable to Write to the Specified Folder
Symptom
When installing BarTender, you encounter the following Windows error:
Environment
BarTender 2016 and later.
Solution
This issue usually occurs because BarTender is either trying to write to a location that it does not have permission to access or to a folder that no longer exists. This could be due to the location being on a shared drive or on a drive that the computer cannot see anymore.
- Check the folder BarTender is attempting to install to actually exists. If it does not, change the installation location to a folder that does exist.
- If the installation folder appears to be valid, try logging on with a Windows user account that has Administrator permissions.
- If the folder is located on the local computer, this user account will only need local Administrator rights. If the folder is located in a non-local location (somewhere else over the network), then the user account will need Windows domain access rights to that location.
