 What is License Server Redundancy?

Answer

This new feature introduced in BarTender 2021 provides the ability to have redundant and backup License Servers. If your main License Server goes down for any reason, this feature will allow you to continue printing without interruption while waiting for the main server to come back online.

There are 2 types of License Redundancy, a Triad and Backup Relationship.

• A Triad Relationship allows the individual license to be mirrored across 3 separate servers. If your main License Server goes down, the client installs will switch to one of the mirrored licenses to continue printing. Once the main server is back online, the client installs will switch back automatically.
• A Backup Relationship utilizes a 2nd license, separate from your main license, that is stored on a 2nd License Server. When you set the relationship, if the main server goes down, the client installs will automatically move to the 2nd license and continue printing. Once the main License Server is back online, the client installs will automatically move back to the main server.
