How do I upgrade my legacy BarTender Workflows to BarTender 2021's new Workflows?

Answer

While it seems like exporting and importing your BarTender Workflows are the fastest way of making them available in BarTender 2021, this does not work. 

By upgrading your software (and by extension, the BarTender System Database), older Workflows will appear as Legacy Workflows in the Administration Console's Librarian Setup menu:

By highlighting your legacy Workflow, you can then click on Edit Workflow to open it in the Workflow Designer. The Workflow Designer will then add the appropriate States and Transitions based on the legacy design.

From here, you'll have to re-save your Workflow as a new file, in order to publish it.

More Information

• Please note: Exporting and importing the Workflow will not work (BarTender 2021 will only allow you to import *.wflow files), since the XML files that are generated are very different.
  • Additionally, changing the extension file will not make this file readable by the import function of the Workflow Designer.
• It is not possible to publish a Legacy Workflow; it must be saved as a new Workflow before it can be published.
