Symptoms

During installation, the installer hangs at the Configuring Windows Features step with a Windows Installer Coordinator window progressing to 100% and resetting.

Environment

BarTender 2021 and later.

Solution

There are two ways to solve this problem:

Quick Solution

Select the cancel button on the Windows Installer Coordinator window. The button may have to be clicked many times. The window will close, and the installation will complete without any observable problems (that we know of so far).

Full Solution

1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc into the Start menu search bar..
2. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Application Compatibility.
   
3. Right-click Turn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility and select Edit.
4. Select the Enabled radio button and click OK.
