Installation Hangs on "Windows Installer Coordinator"
During installation, the installer hangs at the Configuring Windows Features step with a Windows Installer Coordinator window progressing to 100% and resetting.
BarTender 2021 and later.
Please check with your IT department before attempting these changes.
There are two ways to solve this problem:
Select the cancel button on the Windows Installer Coordinator window. The button may have to be clicked many times. The window will close, and the installation will complete without any observable problems (that we know of so far).
- Open the Local Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc into the Start menu search bar..
- Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Application Compatibility.
- Right-click Turn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility and select Edit.
- Select the Enabled radio button and click OK.
