Everyone,

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in their latest round of updates. You can see their comments under “known issues” on the specific Windows Update pages (e.g. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4041676/windows-10-update-kb4041676).

They will fix it in a coming Windows Update, but we don’t have an ETA on when that might happen. For now, our best recommendation is still to install the ACE driver. We have instructions on this here: https://support.seagullscientific.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013402568-Error-Message-6670-when-using-Microsoft-Excel

If you’re unable to get the workaround working, please submit a request: https://support.seagullscientific.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Thank you for your patience. I know this has been very frustrating for many of you. We hope this is resolved as soon as possible.

I've already tried the AccessDatabaseEngine 2010 & 2016 version. Re-install Microsoft Office & BarTender. Removed the update KB4041691.

But the problem has not been sloved.

OS : Windows 10 Professional 32-bit (v.1607)

BarTender : Automation.10.1 SR3 (v.10.1.2954)

MicrosoftOffice : 365 Business (v.1708) (Microsoft Office 2016 MSO v.16.0.8431.2046)

After install of Access Database Engine,
Please try to create a very simple excel file, then create a simple BarTender document (btw) from scratch and try connect to the Excel file.
When that works, you need to reconnect to Excel databases.

  1. Open EACH bartender document which connect to excel (XLS) database.
  2. File > Database Connection Setup to open database connection dialog
  3. Remove database connection from [Remove] button
(if you have Query / Filter setting, make sure you note (screenshot etc) the setting before remove)

  4. Connect to the Excel database again.

Natalie,

I've created a ticket for you in our system. The steps you've taken should have resolved the issue, so we'd like to look at it a little closer.

Thanks,

Gene Henson

Hi All,

Thank you very much for your support!!! The problem is solved.

I re-install the ACE with opening a new btw and a new xls this time.

Then, I've been able to connect the old xls.

Removing KB4041681 did not resolve the problem.

I downloaded the Access Database Engine for Access 2007 (as some computers are still using Office 2003).

Following the instructions to disconnect the excel file and reconnect, worked.  I had to look at a video on how to use the filters because our labels were created using Bartender 9.01 which was a little different.

Hello,

We have the same issue with error #6670.  Removing and re-adding the database works.  But we have a lot of this setup and would take a long time for us to do this.  Already removed KB4041681, but still does not fix the issue.

I'm just wondering if the issue is happening also with Bartender 2016? I've only had clients who have 10.1 and earlier with this issue and we run 2016 in the office and don't have the issue.

We are still using 9.4.  Windows 7 and Office 2010 to 2016.

We are using Bartender 2016 and had the issue but it was fixed by adding ACE 2007.  Yes we had to remove and then reconnect the excel database and set up the filters on all of our label specs.
