    Hello Remo,

Welcome to the BarTender Community Forums!

It appears that the issue you're experiencing with Bartender 2016 R9 and Print Portal is related to a redirect problem when accessing labels over HTTPS. This redirect is causing the browser to be redirected back to the HTTP version of the page, and when forcing HTTPS for the entire website, it results in an "access denied" error.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would recommend checking the Bartender configuration settings and the Print Portal configuration. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve the problem:

    • Verify Print Portal settings: Check the Print Portal configuration settings within Bartender to ensure that it is configured to use HTTPS. Look for any settings related to HTTP/HTTPS redirection or URL configuration.

    • Check Bartender Web Service settings: Bartender relies on a web service component to communicate with the Print Portal. Ensure that the web service settings are configured to use HTTPS as well. Look for any configuration options related to HTTP/HTTPS protocols or redirection.

    • Review IIS settings: Although you mentioned that you've already checked the IIS configuration, double-check the settings to ensure that HTTPS is correctly configured for the website hosting the Print Portal. Verify that the bindings are correctly set up for the HTTPS protocol.

    • Check for redirection rules: Examine the IIS configuration or any other web server components for redirection rules that might be causing the HTTP to HTTPS redirect. Make sure that these rules are correctly configured and do not conflict with the desired behavior.

    • Review any custom code or scripts: If you have implemented any custom code or scripts within the Print Portal or its associated components, review them for any references to HTTP URLs or redirection.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be helpful to reach out to us directly via our Get Support page. As long as you have an active Maintenance and Support agreement with us, we should be able to help you with this.
