The simplest way to achieve this would be via an Action (either Document Level or Form) but for those you need to have the Automation edition.

There maybe a way to achieve this via a VB Script routine but not sure if that is possible to an SQL database and if so if again Automation would be needed.

Alternatively, can I automatically compile a CSV file or is the automation version required?

I am not sure if this has changed but logging used to be Automation and upwards but not sure if this is still the case with Text objects. You could try and configure the Administer > Log Setup and see what that does.
