Can Print Label From Bar Tender, But Not Commander
Hello,
I have an A4 label that I need to print. It looks at a CSV for it's information. When in Bar Tender, I can open it & print it with no issues. However, when trying to get it to print via a task in Commander nothing comes out. No messages, or errors that I can find. It just never arrives.
The task is set to monitor a folder for the CSV.
[Task Name] SSCC Pallet Labels
[Date/Time] 29/05/2014 16:16:38
[BarTender Command] Command Handler: SSCC - C:\PROGRA~2\Seagull\BARTEN~1\BarTend.exe /AF="C:\Commander\Templates\SSCC-128.btw" /PRN="file://\\tsc-fs2\P32" /P /C=4 /D="C:\Commander\Inbox\SSCC\SSCC.dat"
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Stacy

Hello SDixon578,
If you try having Commander work as an application, does it print properly (from the "Administer>Service Setup..." option)?
1. If that is the case, then the problem is probably in the user account running BarTender in the background. Please make sure to do the following:
a. Make sure that the Commander service is running under an account with enough access rights (the "Local System Account" is nearly always insufficient).
b. Access the "Detection>BarTender Command Handler Setup..." dialog and, under the "User Account" tab make sure BarTender is not running under any user account (deactivate that option).
*With the above setting BarTender will inherit the access rights of the Commander service.
2. On the other hand, if as an application Commander still doesn't print, select the "Detection>Show All Running BarTenders" option (with Commander still running as an application), send a trigger file and let me know what error you see appearing in BarTender.
Regards

When I have commander work as an application it prints properly
1. a. Commander service is running under "Local System"
1. b. Bartender is not running any user account
2. When I show the running bartenders with commander running as an application, Bartender prints without error.

Hello nhandley,
Please note that the "Local System Account" is a very limited one that most of the time doesn't offer enough access rights for Commander to work (as is the case in your system).
Please make sure that the Commander service is running under an account with enough access rights and try again.
This account will need access to:
- The scanned folder by Commander.
- Any document that BarTender will need to access and print.
- The printers meant to be used by BarTender (local, shared or networked).
- Any other resource that BarTender or Commander will require (such as database files).
Regards.

Hello Phu,
With Commander running as an application activate the "Detection>Show All Running BarTenders" option. This will display an empty BarTender window. When you then trigger a print job it will display the document meant to print and any error message that could be preventing the print job from happening.
What message are you seeing when doing the above?
Regards.
