Convenient Way To Navigate A Label Follow

Hi,

I was on the step of creating a complex label with lot of fields (somes are really small) and my input is that it's hard to navigate a label when zooming in a lot.
You have to use scrollbars continuously and you have no small preview of the area where you are.

If you know of design softwares like Photoshop, you know that using space bar and mouse move you can easily move throughout your design area and you always have a small preview of the entire label and the position you are on it.

Hope to see that kind of function in the future. :)

Best regards
Chris

I agree, this would be a nice feature as would "layers" which is also a Photoshop feature. Layers is already in the BarTender wish list, but I've now submitted a formal request for the space bar trick to move the label canvas as well.

Thanks for your input.

That will certainly save us lot of time in huge layouts.
Layers would also be really nice to organize labels.

You can hold CTRL and scroll the mouse to change the zoom view. That helps a lot with navigation. When you zoom in, you enlarge the point where is the cursor.

Also, there are some keyboard shortcuts you might find helpful:

F3 shows the entire label on screen

Shift+F3 shows all of the objects on screen

SHIFT+Mouse Wheel zooms in or out on the selected object

HOME centers the label at the current magnification level
Other shortcuts are listed in the help system.

Note that in v10.0 onwards you can press the mouse scroll wheel button and then drag to pan around a label design that you're zoomed in on.

Furthermore...

I'm pleased to announce that we've just released BarTender v10.1 which includes a number of new features with comprehensive support for design layers being one of them.  Download the Trial from the below link:

A white paper detailing the changes will be forthcoming shortly.
