Can you advise what OS and Bartender version you try to install? Please elaborate more what customize install you want to configure ?

Yes, I have read the whitepaper however, it does not mention installation via Group Policy. In my case, I'd like to deploy the Bartender pre-activated, silently and product key applied via group policy. And to do that, I need either a customised transform file (mst) or a msi package. I will also deploy the ini file containing the license server address via group policy which I have figured out already.
Note: I am trying to install the latest SR2 version and currently testing the deployment on Windows XP. We have the Bartender 8.x Enterprise version and just ordered the latest Enterprise version.0 -
You can extract an msi from setup.exe by using the /A command option.
To activate the BarTender software you will need to modify the MSI file. Development are in the process of getting the instructions together an updating the "Silent Install" white paper. I will pass on the details as soon as they are available.0 -
Please find attached some instructions on deploying BarTender with group policies. With the user based approach, the User Access Control (UAC) of Windows might get in the way of a correct installation. We therefore recommend using the machine based approach. 0 -

Did you take a look at the Silent Install white paper which we linked to earlier in this forum topic? It gives an example on specifying a custom install directory there. Does this not work? 0 -
Hello,
I have some trouble with deploying BarTender. If I install BarTender 10 SR1 via Group Policy, it will not
deinstall a former BarTender version, i.e. 9.1. If I manually deinstall this former version, the GPO
installs a Trial version. I have entered the correct PKC with Orca. But, I have no chance in BarTender
menu or in Orca to enter the Licence server because this menu entry is missing under "Administer".
All I can to with this trial is in Menu Help "Activate this software". But I receive an error message
"This PKC is still activated".
If I do silent install from command line like described in WhitePaper_SilentInstall.pdf I have the same
problem. I can't setup a license server.
Any suggestions ?

We are trying to deploy via Group Policy and have read "Group Policy Installations.pdf", but that document leaves out important details, like how to exclude features from installation or how to specify the address of a license server. There are numerous installation variables covered in the "silent_install_of_bartender.pdf", but the only thing covered in the"Group Policy Installations.pdf" is how to supply the PKC, which is irrelevant in our case, as we already have a central license server. We are currently using Enterprise Automation 10.0 SR4 and are attemping to deploy 10.1 SR1.
We have experience deploying other applications via Group Policy, but do not have a clue where to get started in Orca, given the overwhelming number of tables/values. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any update to the last question regarding what other values that need to be changed? How do you determine the edition to install, is this determined by the key?
Anyway my problem is when i deploy an MSI that has altered the PKC value with ORCA i get an error when deploying via a GPO
The source MSI is from the latest Bartender installer from the web "bt101_sr4_2961_suite.exe"

Let's see if the below information from our development team (from some issues running SCCM in the past) help:
"It shouldn't be necessary to modify BarTender.msi to use SCCM package deployment. SCCM supports installs using setup.exe. In fact the customer could in theory use our Web Trial or Web Installer if desired.
On the Standard program tab in the "Create Package and Program Wizard" you can specify the executable and command line options to install BarTender with. Our standard command line switches should apply. The command I think they are looking for:setup.exe /s /v"/qn PKC=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx ADDLOCAL=BarTender,LicenseServer"I would recommend they add the properties such as ADDLOCAL and PKC at the command line. In this case I don't see the need to edit BarTender.msi, but if the customer insists they will want to add their properties to the "Property" table in Orca.""There should be a check box in SCCM to install with admin rights. It may be under Program Properties -> Environment Tab, "Run with administrative rights".The customer should stay out of the Control Event table of our MSI. There is nothing to set in there and the customer risks corrupting the package.The features that are installed are controlled by the ADDLOCAL property. I would recommend setting this property at the command line rather the setting it in the Property Table of the MSI. I can't find a "setup.exe" for BT Suite 10.1 SR4. Is one supposed to use the downloaded "bt101_sr4_2961_suite.exe" on the command line? I can extract the msi using the /a parameter and then use the msi on the command line but I'm having a hard time getting the install to work the way I want. Perhaps I'm missing something. I can't get BT to include the License Server setting in the Administer menu. It's missing. Below is my command line.
msiexec.exe /I BarTender.msi ADDLOCAL=BarTender SLS_Primary=myLicenseServerName /qb

The problem is that the License Server settings don't get added until after the product is activated and the edition is specified. So add a PKC=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and Edition=A or EA to make it the appropriate edition that will take those settings.
