Turning Off 'saving'
When using the Print station I get two errors after printing anything. It prints and I get the first Error message: "Error Message 3314. Could not save to file: (File path) Please check for file access rights and available disk space. Retry after corrective action has been taken." then I hit 'ok' and get the second error message; it's the same as the first one just in a different error message dialog box.
How do I change the file so it doesn't try to save at all? I don't want other users to be able to change the label format or save it. They just need to be able to print from the Print Station and continue what they're doing.
Also, the labels are saved on the network, which seems to cause problems in general anyway...

Could it be that the label format has a serial number on it? If it has then this is why it might be saving in order to update the next serial number to print which is stored in the label file.
Note that in Administration set-up you can choose to not display errors if you wish.0 -

We don't think the label has a serial number. The data's all getting pulled from a database connection, with a saved username and password.
How would we disable the error messages?0 -
You can control what is shown in Printer station by clicking the spanner/wrench icon in the top right of the Print Station Window, select the, "BarTender print Station Setup" menu item and then from the dialog that opens select what level of information, warnings and error that are shown. However, thinking about it this won't help because you cannot hide errors.
Instead you can diable this message in BarTender via the "Administer>Application Message Setup" menu item. Find the #3314 error message and then untick the, "Dialog (Interactive use only)" check box.0 -

This took care of the first error message but the second one, in the Print Station's Dialog box, still pops up.0 -

Is there any way I can insert a screenshot of the error? 0 -
Use the "Full Editor" option and then attach the screen-shot as a file. 0 -

I'm not sure I have the ability in this thread. I'm in full editor mode and I don't see anything about attachments. Where am I supposed to do this? I've looked everywhere for attaching a file in the full editor. 0 -
Scroll down and click the "Choose File" button, select the file and then make sure you click to attach it. 0 -

There's no "Choose File" button on my page.0 -

This has been an issue since day 1 on the forums, in that non-admins cannot seem to post files. The ability to do so would be great, especially to share .btw formats. 0 -

Yeah and there's a supposed 'gallary' on our profiles. I tried that and got an error message. It's irritating...0 -
I have activated the ability for members to upload files to the forum. We've avoided this in the past due to a high degree of spam that we have to deal with on this forum. Allowing attachments makes such a forum all the more attractive to spammers. However, I've now activated this for authenticated members only for a select number of file types. Hopefully this will be useful for our users while not opening the floodgates to yet more invasive spam. Needless to say I have not allowed file attachments that could be dangerous. 0 -

The firsts error, which no longer pops up: .
Now all I get is this error-where before this one would pop up after I hit 'ok' on the first one: 0 -
Could you also attach the BarTender label format file (.btw) for us to examine? Include as a ZIP file if you're not able to send the .BTW file as it is. 0 -
Send as a btw file as zip files are not allowed. 0 -

This is one of the .btw files. All of the ones I have are givving me an error. I've been into the Administrative Message Setup and disabled everything for error 3314. I still get the error, only now it has no Error number:
WHat I really need is to be able to disable the file from trying to save at/after a print job, is it possible?
Also:
I sent the problem in by email to the SeaGull Tech Support yesterday. After telling me to disable everything for the message he said to tell him if it didn't work; I did around 3 yesterday and I've yet to hear back. Does anyone happen to know what hours the email support holds?0 -
Technical support hours can be found here:

Ok. I have a work around through Batch Maker. Made each label into a batch on its own and now I don't get the error messages. If you have this problem too, and use the Batch make, make sure, in your labels, before making them into a Batch, you set the printer as "Default" so it'll always go to the default printer on the computer. (You can't pick a printer for a Batch through Print Station). 0 -

Same problem here. In addition, we have the built in history activated. So the label asks the user after every print to save the file.
There are no local counters used (they are comming from the dB), so it would be great just disabling the saving procedure after printing...
The workaround is not realy an option for us. Having more than 400 different labels, I would not like to have another 400 Batchmaker Files...
Kind Regards,

Just to check in, we're having the same error and have de-selected all of the options under Administer --> Application Message Setup for error message # 3314, yet the second error persists.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thx!

Is there clear direction on a fix for this? I am having this problem also, and I cannot go to production with the error.
Specifically, I have a pretty simple label reading off an Excel file. I did have a serialized field, because I need it to increment up with each copy of a label. However, even if I turn this off (and in Print Station I'm no longer asked for serialized copies--only the number of copies of the label), this error message persists (both of them, as original user of the thread mentions).
It appears the only way I can resolve this is to jack up permissions to an undesirable level so that the current user has write access to the folder with the print files.0 -

Our IT department has been in communications with Seagull about this issue, apparently there is a fix in an update for BT10. We are going to install it today, I'll let you know how it goes.

Did the upgrade fix the issue? I'm running 9.4 right now and would love to NOT give all user write permission to the network folders where the label templates are stored (that is just bad practice).0 -
It's terrible practice. I've had to do it anyway, since I couldn't wait, and the exposure is small right now.
If BT 10.0 fixes this, I'll deploy it.0 -

So we updated to 10.0 SR2, and the saving error went away. However, once we got rid of that, when opening Print Station, a User Account Control window would pop up (attached).

Pressing 'No' would put us back into Print Station as normal, but it was still confusing to have this window pop up.
I believe (need to check with my IT guy) that we've also managed to make this box go away, but I need to get the details on that. I'll confirm once I touch base.

Please note that recently we've released BarTender v10.0 SR3.

The admin login requester coming up is probably down to a problem with the way the software was installed, rather than a general issue on running the software.0 -
