Emulating Imaje Control Center's Printer Code Template File
Hi all,
My question is simple, although I think the answer is not as simple...
Is it possible to generate a Printer Code Template that emulates such a file but generated by Imaje Control Center software? (from the internal structure point of view, I mean)
I have been playing with BarTender´s "Export Printer Code Template File" menu, but the output I have got so far is not even close to what I need.
The attached file is a sample of what I am talking about... please take a look at it for a better understanding of my question.
Maybe someone would like to share its own experience ;-) ... any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Christian

At its heart the Printer Code Template (PCT) feature is a marked-up print job for embedding into a direct printing system or the printer itself. Other devices are supported such as particular keypads that plug into a printer for use without a computer, but as far as I know we have nothing for this control system.
Here is the white paper on the Printer Code Template (PCT) feature:
Perhaps someone else on the forum can give you some pointers??

Hello Ian, thank you for your quick reply. I understand what you are pointing but, just to clarify a little more, Imaje Control Center is a printing system and label design software (much like Bartender is), except that it only works with Imaje printers.
We have developed a printing system that parses this kind of PCT, replaces the variables and dataholders with live data from a database, and then sends the PCT to some printers. Now, as we are adding support for other printers (Zebra in particular), we have to migrate to BarTender (because Imaje control Center doesn't support Zebra printers) but we would like to maintain compatibility with Imaje PCT file format from BarTender.
I've read the document from the link and, from what I've understood, it seems that I need to "Customize My Own Print System". Unfortunately, the document lacks enough information about this kind of "customization" and I'm still not being able to get it done. Do you have some extra documentation and examples about how to create a Custom Printing System? I'm specially interested in the Visual Basic scripting functionality, because I think that is the way to go (please, correct me if I am wrong).
NOTE: As you can see, we do not need BarTender to interface directly with Imaje Control Center printing system; we only need someone who give us a hand on "customizing our own Print System".
Thanks again,
Christian

I don't have any other documentation to give you. You can take a look at some of the print systems that are installed with BarTender by default. If you copy the print system you can then edit examine the contents of it. Do this via the "Administer>Printer Code Template Setup" menu item.

Thanks Ian, I will give that a try.
