    Hello dondusko,

    1. Could you let me know exactly which code 39 symbology are you using? Is it the "Regular" one or the "Full ASCII" one?

In any case, both symbologies should accept the "$" character, maybe is something related with the actual printer?

    2. Could you let me know what BarTender version, edition and build you are working with?

    3. On what Windows OS are you working with BarTender?

    4. What exact printer brand and model are you working with?

You need to configure the barcode reader for full ASCII Code 39 as opposed to regular Code 39.

I was using Full ASCII.  This happened with a Windows 7 PC using BarTender 10.0.  I printed to an Adobe Print driver.  I don't think it's a scanner issue, since this is a copy of an existing label, which had the "$" in the code and it read properly.  The code I made with BarTender was the one that read it as a "\D".

This is a barcode scanner configuration issue.  Make sure it's configured to read in Full ASCII Code 39 and that the correct code page is selected to match your system.

I'm having trouble printing a code 39 barcode that has a "$" in the string.  Human readable is fine, but the scanner output shows the ascii code "\D".  Is there anyone out there that can help me get it to scan with the "$" in the output?

    Thanks in advance.

it is sth.related to your barcode scanner. maybe it is not compatible with your system.
