Are you using BarTender or some other application? Please specify giving details.

Is the Seagull printer driver for the Datamax printer the Windows default printer driver for the Windows PC in question, or is a different printer driver the default? if the latter what type of printer is the other printer? As a test, if you make the Datamax the Windows default printer driver does this avoid the problem?

We are not using BarTender. What advantages do we have using this?

Apart from the fact that BarTender offers a easy yet powerful label design capability, I would say there are three key features that should be of interest to you and they are as follows...

    1. Printer driver print settings are embedded and saved as part of the label document file. This means that when printing to thermal printers, which have a myriad of different printing options that need to be specifically set, the label will print exactly as designed without the need to rely on Windows default settings.

    2. When printing with BarTender and the Seagull printer drivers, the print job produced will be highly optimized taking advantage of the printer's performance features. This means faster printing labels. More information on this can be found at the following link: http://s3.amazonaws.com/SeagullBarTender/ftp/WhitePapers/WhitePaper_TheAdvantageofDriversBySeagull_English.pdf

    3. The BarTender Automation and Enterprise Automation editions fully support a programmable interface using either a COM or .NET component. This allow for an easy integration of BarTender's label printing capability into your system. There is also a middleware application called Commander that can be used for integrations when a directly programmed solution is not preferred. More information on this can be found in the below white papers:

Again we are not using the Bartender product. We have over 15 print servers running Server 2008 and everytime we try to customize a label-we get extra labels. Which is the preferred method when customizing labels. Do you create a new stock with your dimensions or do you use the User settings and modify that with your label size dimensions? We do NOT have this problem on our Server 2003 print servers. Has there been discussion on possibly updating your current drivers to work with Server 2008? We have a go live scheduled in teh next 2 months and i would really like some guidance if possible...I did see someone suggest in the forums to set your custom lable size and then perform a calibration on your printer...

Our printer drivers are already fully Windows Server 2008 standard/R2 compatible.

The USER size is a stock slot in the driver that a correctly programmed application, like BarTender, can use to load correct page size dimensions into from the application document in use. As you are not using BarTender I would suggest you go the route of using predefined stock sizes in the printer driver and selecting them for use.

Are you able to answer my earlier question?
