There are two ways to create barcode, one is barcode control, the other is barcode font. I feel barcode control is much better without encountering Access. My barcode control for winform works quite well, but it needs some programming. 0 -
I prefer barcode control than fonts. And for programming, it is easy and source code is provided with the barcode control. You just need to decide to use winforms, asp.net or others to create your PDF 417<http://www.businessrefinery.com/products/barcode_net_win/pdf_417.html>. 0 -
I tried both. I guess fonts is easier for me right now. Later will have a try of the control

In Bartender, you can just drag barcode object from the toolbar and drop on the design area and select PDF417 barcode.
You can download 30 days trial of Bartender from the web site http://www.seagullscientific.com/aspx/free-bar-code-label-printing-software-download.aspx to give it a try.

I do know a barcode dll which could generate a PDF 417 barcode without any programming. You can generate it through a properties window <http://www.barcodelib.com/net_winforms/barcode_symbologies/pdf417.html>. I'm a new programmer for .net barcoding. At the beginning, I googled several third party controls for my project. But most of these control needs C# or VB programming. Lately, I tried a Windows Forms barcode software from a site "barcodelib.com". What I appreciate most is the developer guide, easy and quick to create barcode for windows application. Guess you may try it. :)

You said that you want to generate pdf417 barcode.You can just take a barcode generating program.There are many third party program which supports to generate barcode.
But for me ,i have only tried some free tiral of barcode generation.I'd like to have a try if there is a powerful generator.Thanks for any suggestion.
