Not Able To Print Testpage
Hello,
My BarTender Automation has a license for 3 printers.
Currently the license is exceeded.
Now i want to print a Testpage to a CAB PX printer but my system tells me the printer is in an error state.
The printer look ok and does not display an error.
Te OS is Win 8.
De driver version is 7.3.6
The printer is connected throug TCP/IP.
Could this be caused by the overdrawn license or could it have another cause.
I hope someone is able to help me on this!
Best Regards,
Harm

That sort of message of the printer being in an error state has nothing to do with BarTender, that's a Windows message that's being reported. That means that the printer is reporting to the spooler that it's not working appropriately. 0 -

@Mike T
Thaks for your reply.
This is a little more complicated.
I gave the printer a ip adress which was alloew by de license. Same Ip in the driver. Test page printed.
Using the same driver, i changed both the printer and driver to different IP.
This IP is not in the license list.
Test page is not printed and can be found in the spooler !
Personaly I think this has to do with the License.
Test Page printed on 192.168.001.103.
Dit not print on 192.168.001.101.
There is no other device on the network with these adresses.
I included a printscreen from License Server

A "Test Page" done via the driver won't make use of our printer licensing mechanism. Only when printing from BarTender (or one of our companion applications), you will make contact with Seagull License Server in order to get a printer license assigned.
As a test, are you able to print to this printer (on the new IP address) using MS Word? If no, then this has nothing to do with BarTender - Seagull License Server licensing and more related to a network / printer configuration.

Hello Domingo,
We tried the same with an original CAB printer driver. This driver did not print testpage on the same IP adtresses.
The problem has been solved by deleting all the BarTender printerdrivers on the system and deleting all the TCP/IP ports that would not print.
Afterwards we reinstalled the printerdrivers and it all printed fine.
I'm pretty sure thoug that this has been caused by Bartender. All the TCP/IP ports that would not print, where the printer ports License Server refused..
We had two systems using the same Bartender license. The effect was on both systems.

Harm

Could you also let me know the exact version and build of BarTender and Seagull License Server in use? Check this via the "Help > About" dialog in BarTender and License Server.

Hello Domingo,
Sorry for my late answer.
I was not able to detect these versions, because the actual version on that machine has been changed since the problem is solved.

Harm
