Datamax-O'neil I-4406 Windows Print Queue
We've got a number of the I-4406 printers setup in Windows print queues on our print servers with the 7.4.1.0 drivers. The problem we're having is that the default settings we've set on the print queues are not getting transferred to the workstations. And quite often they workstations are complaining about a communication error with the print server. Has anyone had a similar experience and maybe have some pointers? There's no search function on this forum that I can find so.....

On the server, in the printer driver properties select the "Tools" tab then the "Driver Options" button, and under the "Network Settings" tab make sure the bi-directional support and configuration sharing is enabled and the status is available. In "Network Setup" you'll see that port 6160 is used for such communication, so make sure that the port is not being blocked by a firewall etc.

Thank you Ian that sorted it out. I never even thought to look under the Tools tab as it's not something I've ever had to do for a network printer in 20+ years.
