Adding Sequence To An Existing Barcode. Follow

Hello,  just new to the site but thinking it will be helpful to my introduction and operation around BarTender.

The issue I'm currently having is that i need to update some inventory with an existing standard barcode. Inventory may contain 4 of 5 identical items sharing the same barcode. I am needing to identify the numbering of similar items now and new barcodes need developing.  The earlier version had the barcode and simply a label stating 1 of 4, 2 of 4,.......  By incorporating this into the barcode, I am wanting just a dash sequence added. Example,  123456-1, 123456-2, 123456-3, ..etc.

The particular problem I'm having is that I want to enter the original barcode numbering by scanning it into a workable field so

as to eliminate possible manual errors. To have a field to start with I have to open the barcode field by selecting PRINT. When I then scan, it immediately prints before I'm able to add any sequence to the numbers, -1, -2, -3.... I can complete the change and entry all manually and then hit print. The new barcode has the propper label and barcode info, as can be tested by scanning this new label.  I believe it is a 39 standard I am using for the barcode.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to enter the initial barcode numbering in by scanning and have the print sequence hold off until the additions have been made?? Maybe there is another field to scan this into and then print later.?   Thank You

Open the data entry form control properties, select the top node of the properties tree, and then untick the, "Treat enter key as a tab" check box.
