Database Issues Follow

Hi All

New to using BarTender and we have got BarTender 2016 Automation

Installed it on our server and connected it to our Access database via ODBC, everything works fine on the server. Created the templates and can search the records to find all information and populates on the label fine.

However when I install BarTender Designer on a client computer so they can search and print labels, when you open up the template it is asking for Username and Password, nothing has been set to ask for this firstly so why is this coming up?

Would it be easier to create a central database within BarTender with all our information in? If so how is this done?

Thanks for your help

Luke

Turn off security center on the local computer or give the user permissions within Security center.

That is my first guess

The username/password thing is a known issue (unhelpful message) that comes up when BarTender is unable to find the database file in question.  We plan on being more helpful in this message in a future release.

Therefore, you'd need to make sure that the PC that you're now running the BarTender software on has permission/access to get to the database file in question.  For example, was the connection to the database file made using a universal path, or did you specify a path that only works on the original computer, but not on anyone elses?  For example, if you specified a file path of "C:\Database" for the document, then the document will only find the database if the database is found on that same local folder on the new PC you're using.

Note: When you create your document in BarTender 2016 I suggest you name your database connection so that it may be reused by either different users or different documents.
