Silent Server Instance Follow
Hi. We're currently evaluating BarTender and trying to work out if we'll be able to automate it in-line with our anticipated deployment architecture.
We would like to have BarTender installed on a single PC or server, alongside our own ASP.NET application that would communicate with it via the SDK. This means we can have distributed users working with our ASP.NET application depending on a single, central Bar Tender installation, which may then print to specified printers across the network.
When we've done things like this in the past (e.g. with Sage Accounts), the SDK functions sometimes include events that trigger alert boxes or dialogs that cause problems with this back-end operation. Typically there is a "silent" mode, that ensures these sort of UI interactions are suppressed. Our intention is that we can collect values within our application and simply pipe them through to the BarTender application, producing labels, with no need for the user to see the BarTender interface at all.
Can anyone say whether this setup is likely to work with BarTender, or is the SDK designed more for automation on a PC requiring an interactive UI?
