Basic Bartender Integration Insight Follow

Hi BarTender forum,

I have the task of integrating BarTender automation into a vb.net developed project. Basically I have a Rich Text Box where serial numbers are entered, and when a 'search' button is clicked, a bunch of information on the serials is pulled into an ultragrid below. I have added a print label button, and I want to be able to print out all of the serial numbers on as many labels as necessary using the 'data source' that would be the 'Serial Number' column.

How do I even begin to go about this? I could really use some insight! Thanks!

Attached is what the form looks like, and what I am wanting the label to look like with the serial numbers and barcodes.

We are using BarTender Automation Edition 9.4 SR2

Start off taking a look at the below white paper:

Next consult the BarTender Help system as in there you will find a full reference for the automation interface (either .NET or COM) with many code examples.

Make sure you install the .NET SDK component for your BarTender Suite as you will then be able to take a look at the various example projects created for your learning.  The SDK folder will be found in the installation folder of the BarTender Suite.

For your project, I would make use of a temporary text file into which you write the variable values that you wish to print on subsequent labels.  Then in automation connect the BarTender format to this temporary data file and print.  Note that the label format will need to be designed with an existing data connection to a file of the same field structure as the temporary data file to be used at print time.
