Security Center Denies Access To Everything
I have managed to break Security Center. I had set it up to allow Administrators and members of a local group to do everything, and to allow ‘Everyone’ to do just a few things.
I then changed the name of the local group, and after that nothing works. I can disable security altogether, and then everything works fine – but without any of the restrictions I wanted to have. If I enable Security then I cannot open any of the Bartender programs - I always get a Permission denied message. And, yes, I use an account which has permission to do everything.
The renamed group may not be relevant. It is possible that the problem is caused by something else.
I have tried various things, such a renaming the local group back to its original name, and I have reinstalled the whole Bartender Suite. But uninstalling and reinstalling retained all settings. All to no avail.
Any idea what I can do to get Security Center to apply its permissions correctly again?

I thought I'd tell you that I have gotten my Bartender installation to work - albeit with a workaround.
It turned out that the problem was caused by a domain group which was included in the local Administrators group. Apparently the unruly group contains a ‘cross-domain’ member, and that prevents Security Center from working properly. It also prevents other tools from accessing the group.
Instead of using the built-in Administrators group, I created another group with the same members as Administrators except for that unruly group, and use that in Security Center.
Bartender Security Center works fine now that it is relieved of that unruly group.
