Label With / Witout Serialization Follow

We use bartender to print two labels that require identical input information, one requires serialization and the other does not, we use screen input for the fields. I ahve been tasked with finding a away to use the screen input to print both of the labels having only the first one print without serilized numbers and the rest print with a normal serialized numbers, ie. 1 of 5, 2 of 5.

What we would like to do is only input the screen data once and be able to print off both labels insuring the input data remains the same on both labels. I am stumped as I only support the application, novice user, and we do not have anyone fully trained in Bartender. I suggested linking the fields in both labels to the same spreadsheet but management wants the screen input.

Any ideas if this can be done, enter screen input data once but print two seperate files? Can we have a serialized label start with 0 of #

Thanks

At the moment the user prompt dialog in a label format is inextricably linked to a single label design. User prompt dialogs cannot be shared between multiple, similar label designs.

From a user point of view the best solution would be for you to create a simple VB.NET front-end form application to take in the user inputs, but which would then control BarTender via the automation interface to open the two label formats, set data from the form onto them and then print. This would require the Automation edition of BarTender, or higher, in order to achieve this.

More information on how to do this can be found at the below white paper:

Thank you for the feeedback and sorry for the delay to update, too many hats soem months. I will look into the VB suggestion but I did find a way to complete the process of only entering data once for serialized numbered labels being printed and then remove the serialized fields and print the labels without numbering.

Setting auto reprint brings the prompt back with all data entered initiallly, set the three parts of the serilized text sub strings to prompt, including the "of", and when you do not need the serialized numbers leave all three prompts for serialized numbers blank and the labels print wothout numbers.

So our process is open label, which is read only in a secured share, enter product inforamtion with serialized numbers listed as 001 of [# of labels], PRINT. At the end of the first print the prompt returns and you clear the three serilized number prompt fiels and print the number of labels required which is also presented on the prompt screen. I hope this makes sense as I am self taught on Bartender.
thanks
