Find Record In Database And Set An Image Path Follow

hi!

i have a text file database with field item_num and image_path. image_path points to an image (.tiff) file.

the template would have an image object only, to be set at run time. and item_num does not need to be printed.

when user enters an item_num, i need to find that record in the database and set the path of the image object to image_path. (so correct image will be printed based on the item_num). if item_num is not found in the database, then display an error message.

none of the training videos that i found seems to answer my problem.

without using query prompt, how would you address the above requirement?

TIA!

You need to setup a database connection with query prompt and query to search on the item_num field.  The picture object needs to be data sourced by link, with the relevant image_path field being used for the data source.

hi!

currently i'm using query prompt. i'm looking for a way not to use that.

my setup is after user must enter an item num (to lookup the database). and then needs to enter more info to be printed.

with query prompt, i have a form for item num and then another form for the other info.

i want to have just one form where user enters all needed info for printing.

i'm sure it's workable. just don't know where to start.

If I am understand you correctly if sounds like you want the operator to enter the Item Number (database lookup) and all other print time prompts on the same form/screen at the same time. If that is the case then I think you will need to upgrade to the new version (2016) as this allows you to add the link a Data Entry From field to a Database Query Prompt

without upgrading, it's not doable in my version?

Query prompt and regular data entry all in one form?  Correct you'd need to get BarTender 2016, unless you wish to go down the route of automating BarTender via the .NET SDK where you'd have the flexibility to build your own data entry form in just the way you want, and then programmatically control a BarTender process to go ahead and print it.
