Datamax-oneil M 4308 Ii Network Setup
I am helping another group with a Datamax-O'Neil M-4308 Mark II printer using the BarTender software and the Seagull driver, Datamax-O'Neil DPL Driver, Version 7.1.9 M-0. Our network scanning software identified a web server on this computer using port 6160 and was showing a multitude of vulnerabilities.
After some investigation, I finally figured out it was the printer driver acting as a web server. I went into the printer driver Tools, Driver Options, Network Settings, Network Setup, Advanced and I then Disabled TCP/IP Communication. This appears to have turned off network access to the printer driver.
This has solved the scanning issue but I am curious if this will affect our setup. The BarTender software is installed on only one computer and the M-4308 printer is connected to this one computer via USB. All barcodes will be printed from this one computer. So, basically everything is local, no other computers connect to this computer via the network.
I'm hoping this setup will work fine and we don't need the printer driver network server enabled. Any advice or other info would be great.
Thanks

The network settings that you disabled has to do with the communication between a server and client installation of the printer driver. As your printer driver install is not shared, with no clients connecting to it, then you will be fine.
Is it possible to send us some information on what your network scanner thinks these security vulnerabilities are?0 -
I would also recommend that you update to the latest version of our printer drivers which is currently v7.2.2.
